the Greenhouse collection

The Greenhouse Collection has been a labor of love. There were some delays and setbacks and a few ugly paintings that didn't make the cut. I wasn't sure where my ideas would lead me for this series of paintings, but I'm happy with the results.
Growth comes with each painting, each collection I do. I've learned that growing plants and painting a collection are very similar. You start with an idea, a seed, things get messy, you give it some time and attention, after a while you start to see something forming, and then comes the flourishing. We get to enjoy the beauty of what our hands have tended.
The Greenhouse collection was named for what takes place when our ideas have a place to grow and be safe from the elements. We need the right environment for our desires to take root and for our hopes to be realized. Those things we dream about, set goals for, they need to go through a nurturing and deliberate process to be accomplished.
My hope is that this collection will be a reminder of the perseverance and gentleness that we need to see growth in our own lives.
This collection is made up of 12 original, acrylic on canvas paintings. The sizes include 4x6", 6x6", 8x8", 8x10", 9x12", and 12x16". I sketched each unique piece in pencil before painting, you can still see some of the pencil marks (one of my favorite details), and finished with a matte varnish.
