Fall Bouquets

Fall Bouquets

For me the creative process usually starts with an image in my head; objects, colors, or theme. I have lots of ideas but they don't all happen. But when those ideas stay front of mind for a time, I know I need to tackle it.

First I started to collect inspiration in the form of images, colors and photos that help me narrow down what I'm trying to accomplish. I was really inspired by Fall colors, shapes, leaves and branches.

I sketched out a few drawings and then drew a few images digitally so I could see how they looked with color. One of the drawings became a sticker and I got great feedback on them.

This collection was meant to be paintings on paper, but they felt flat. So I knew I needed to try them on canvas. Once I sketched them out and started adding paint I knew it was going in the right direction. I wanted to include colors like muted pink, mustard yellow, teal and dark green.

The paintings inform the story of the collection throughout the process. It's not a calculated thing but only becomes evident as I create. It's always a delightful surprise to see how the big picture unfolds.

The Fall Bouquets collection reflects the charm of the season.

Flowers, leaves, and branches preserved for our pleasure. Their amorphous shapes, rich colors, and fragility have a story all their own. Fall is a season of gratitude and we are thankful for this harvest of beauty.
